If you have ever been in Austin in the summer, you know it is a lot more than just a hot southern town in Texas. It is chalk full of activities everyday, ranging from relaxing by the water to listening to live music with your friends. So, whether you are here for the whole summer or just dropping in for a visit, there will always be something going on for you to do. To make things easy for you, we have highlighted some of our own “must do’s” for the 2015 summer for all of you who will be in Austin at some point!

Must Do #1 – Barton Springs

This has been an Austin classic for a very long time. Nothing beats spending a long day out at Zilker Park and then cooling off in the 68 degree natural springs pool. The hot summer days combined with refreshing cold spring water make for the ultimate refresher. Follow it up with some relaxing on the large grassy hill in the sun to warm back up!

Must Do #2 – Blues on the Green

This one goes great when pared with Barton Springs. Blues on the Green is a FREE event that is held out at Zilker Park on select Wednesdays throughout the summer. Hosted by KGSR, bands like Bob Schneider and Shakey Graves will preform for families and friends out for a fun night of live music and fun. Check the schedule to see when the next date is!

Must Do #3 – Congress Bats

Every year from March – October over 1 million bats take flight every night out from underneath the Congress Bridge. This is THE LARGEST urban bat population in the world, so you have to see this for yourself!

Must Do #4 – Sound & Cinema at the Long Center

We all have that old movie we love… Here is your chance to see it again! This FREE event brings old classics like Sandlot, Top Gun and local hit Dazed and Confused back to the big screen along with local Austin artists playing some live music beforehand. Get there early to get a good seat, and bring a picnic with you!

Must Do #5 – Amy’s Ice Cream

You may or may not have heard this rumor, but trust us, it’s true! Amy’s has over 350 flavors of ice cream in rotation. Drop in on a hot afternoon and try their Mexican Vanilla with some crushed Oreos and Hot Fudge!

Must Do #6 – Peter Pan Mini Golf

This Austin favorite has been around since 1946! Hosting 2 different 18-hole courses, this is the perfect family friendly activity. You can even bring your own cooler full of drinks! Select golf covers, golf carts and courses yourself!

As you can see, there are plenty of things going on in Austin this summer. If that still isn’t enough for you, check out this article to get even more information about events going on throughout the summer. We hope to see you outside at Zilker or in line at Amy’s this summer! Don’t be afraid to say hi! We don’t bite hard…
