Whenever there are extra cookies in the office, we know exactly who’s desk to put them on. She may be the youngest in the office, but her dreams and aspirations are huge. We would like to introduce our summer and fall intern, Kate Gothing.

Kate is a senior advertising student at The University of Texas at Austin (yes – there’s yet another longhorn on the team). With her expected graduation coming up in May, she has been working hard to get as much real world experience as she can before she leaves the comfort of her university. Originally from Massachusetts, Kate has lived in 3 different cities and two different continents in the past three years. She finished out her freshman year of college in Chicago, Illinois at DePaul University before transferring to UT in lovely Austin, Texas. Then this past year she studied abroad in Florence, Italy and traveled to 12 different countries.

Ever since Kate was a freshman in high school, she knew she would go to college for marketing or advertising. As a freshman, she enrolled in a marketing class offered by her high school and completed a project where she created a football helmet that had new technology that could reduce the risk of concussions. She created the helmet design and advertisements, and then presented the project to the class. That’s when she realized she wanted to market/advertise for a sports based company. Now that she is about to enter into the real world, she hopes to work for a professional sports team or a company specialized in athletic apparel.

To learn a little more about our intern, we asked her a few questions:

If you had to be on a reality TV show, which one would you choose?

  • It may not be a reality TV show, but I would love to be on American Ninja Warrior. I feel like my background in gymnastics could help… hopefully!

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

  • Sr. Manager of Global Marketing at Nike or Under Armour.

What is your favorite restaurant in Austin?

  • Kerbey Lane. The eggs francisco is my weakness!

If you could learn another language, what would it be?

  • I learned Italian in college and from studying abroad, but I wish I was fluent! Learning Swedish would be a cool language to learn, too.

She still has a long road ahead of her, but we are confident that she will surpass her dreams. Keep up the great work Kate. We’re happy to have you on the HMG Creative team.
