The HMG Creative team has gained a new team member and we’re more than thrilled about it! We’re happy to introduce Becca Miles as our new Visual Production Designer. Becca is filling a new role to support HMG’s longstanding partnership with one of our Fortune 500 enterprise clients. She’ll be working collaboratively with our design team, offering experience in visual design and HTML to provide digital production for the client’s web projects.
We asked Becca to tell us a little bit about herself:
Hey, y’all! I’m Becca, a Jill of some trades with a knack for design and anything creative. I was born and raised in Texas and have lived in 3 major Texas cities throughout my life but fell in love with a little piece of heaven which is the Hill Country. Six years ago, I graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos and have spent my career immersed in growing and learning in design. I’ve had a wide breadth of experience with restaurant brands including various food trucks for local mom & pops, family business’ and design in the wine industry. My love for power tools and DIY projects also had a hand in a lot of my design influence. On a more personal level, deep down in my soul, I am undeniably an artist first and foremost. Since living in Austin, I’ve started an art collective that features local artists that put on popup shows at my favorite local spot Cosmic Coffee and Beer Garden.
From painting to drawing to digital art, there lies no bounds with creating and sharing my love for art with the rest of the world and other creators alike. When I’m not designing, painting, or curating a show, you can find me swimming in Texas rivers or antiquing in small towns. My best friend and I follow a strict tradition of attending Round Top’s Texas Antiques Week Junk-O-Rama Prom thrown by the Junk Gypsies. A night of dancing, groovin’, sipping on wine under the Texas stars in a vintage prom dress always makes the rest of my year. My dad and I share a love for the open road so you can also find me on the back of his Harley on our way to the Gristmill or to a metal show.
There’s nothing like a good ol’ fashioned Q&A:
What are you most passionate about?
Definitely art. There’s something so wondrous about creating a tangible work from a deep love, that you can never master, but can always improve. To see the world through the hearts and minds of other creators is what I live for, as I create my own for you to see.
What would your last meal be?
The chocolate cake from Matilda
Who would you say is your role model? Why?
My parents, because they’ve proven to me no matter how tough things get, one can persevere through anything. My boyfriend, because he’s shown me to see the happiness inside myself and taught me how true love can be. My little brother, who has always followed his dreams. Oh, and also Guy Fieri.
What fictional character do you relate to the most? Why?
In the Catholic school days, it was Saoirse Ronan’s ‘Ladybird’ but now I probably relate to C.Cassandra comics the most.
What are your personal and professional goals for 2020?
Learn as much as I can. Be a sponge and focus on how purpose-driven design can change the world for good. I used to be obsessed with titles and career goals and milestones. Now I believe that as long as I’m learning and progressing, being an asset to my team, and creating great work, I’ll be happy. 🙂
What are some of your favorite spots in Austin?
Cosmic Coffee and Beer Garden, the greenbelt, Jack Allens, HEB, and my house!
If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Ireland, so I can find an abandoned castle to make my new home
Why did you choose to work for HMG?
I wanted to be surrounded by creative people that love great work and design!
Is there anything else we should know about you?
I wish Halloween was every day and you’ll hardly ever catch me without my red lipstick!
