It’s really hard to believe that my time at HMG is already coming to an end. Time sure does fly by when you are learning as much as I am! Serving as an intern at HMG has proven to be a smart decision and a very valuable experience. Since I am pursuing a degree in public relations as UT Austin, I was looking to gain as much experience in the realm of communications and marketing as possible. Working as a social media and marketing intern has taught me a great deal of knowledge in the professional communications industry.
From the get go, I was scheduling social media posts, running email marketing campaigns, writing project overviews, and composing a total of 20 blogs on a large variety of topics such as web design, company news, and “Austin stuff”. Coming from PR, this has been a great way to sharpen my writing skills in regards to professionalism.
Next semester, I will be turning my focus over to sales. I come from a family that has seen success in sales, and I believe this is a great career path to consider. I have accepted an offer to work as a sales intern at Square Root in downtown Austin. I will be helping conduct sales research, sales reporting, and learning about the sales process of their cloud based analytics product to companies such as Nissan, Lowe’s, The Home Depot and Volkswagen. I am really looking forward to exploring this new career field as I finish up my last semester at UT!
Although I am sad to leave HMG, I am thankful for all they have done for me. Working for a company that wants their interns to grow and not go get coffee is rare these days. I highly recommend this internship to anyone who wants to grow in the field of communications. I will never forget my time here, and I am looking forward to seeing all that HMG can accomplish in the coming years!
