WE ASKED JENAYE TO TELL US ABOUT HERSELF

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. My family came from Jamaica and, growing up in a Caribbean household, our culture, family values, and a strong work ethic were instilled in me from an early age.

Throughout my childhood, I was always into the arts. I studied ballet, contemporary, and African dance for about 7 years though middle and high school and ultimately decided to stop once it was time for college. I went to my dream school, NYU, where I studied Social and Cultural Analysis with concentrations in Africana and Metropolitan Studies. Due to my heavy involvement in on-campus club activities and events, I landed in the field of non-profit events after graduating from school and executed my first large-scale charity gala for global philanthropists and diplomats. Since then, I’ve spent my career immersed in the world of non-profit, corporate, and experiential event production. Working on more than 50 galas, conventions, summits, product launches, and conferences throughout my time. While doing events is rewarding, most of the work takes place behind the scenes. Through the years, I was able to hone in and expand my digital marketing and web design skills. I started taking on more roles that were focused on event logistics and CRM software management and eventually decided to take the next step in my career in the world of digital consulting. When I’m not working, my hobbies include traveling to warm destinations, online shopping and food. I love food.

What are you most passionate about?

I put a high priority on my health and wellness, so I would say fitness. Before the pandemic, I was in the gym about 3-4 times a week. Not only has it improved my physical health, but also my overall discipline in life and mental health overall.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Indonesia. I haven’t been to that side of the globe yet and I would really like to visit the beaches in Bali and experience the culture.

Next time we’re in New York City, where’s the first place we should go to eat?

Pearl’s in Williamsburg to try their corn soup!

What are your professional goals for 2021?

To learn more about coding and build my network.

Why did you choose to work for HMG?

The people. It seemed like a great environment for fostering creativity and growth.

What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?

Think of yourself as a lifelong learner.
