Gobble Up Some Thankful Thoughts

Thanksgiving is only a few days away, which means you’re getting ready to eat ‘til you sleep. As important as stuffing your face on this lovely holiday, we must remember why we celebrate it. Simply being thankful and appreciating the small things in life is often overlooked and forgotten, during our busy everyday schedules.

Take the time to reach out to your family and friends who have supported you, made you laugh and liked your Instagram posts. Write them a short letter and mail it in the old fashioned snail mail way, or give them a call rather than sending a text, and see how they’re doing.

Be thankful for your health, your job and the ability to eat the food in front of you, on Thursday. Take a moment to reflect on how you got to be where you are in life, learn from both your mistakes and accomplishments, then contemplate how to improve your life for the coming year. Be kind and invite a friend who may not be able to be with their family this holiday, and share the love over food and conversation.

Take a break from all electronics for a day. As much as you may want to post about your perfectly cooked turkey, or your perfect fall outfit, give yourself the day to really soak in the love of those around you.

You could also create a list of the things you are most thankful for and save it until next year. See if the things you listed this year match up with those you think are important in 2017. If so, expand on your list and continue to make it grow. If not, learn from how much you have grown within a year and use this lesson as a way to better yourself for the future.

All in all, spread the love and gratitude this holiday season. Take a break from work and the pressures of your everyday life. Try a new recipe or bring back an old family dish that has been forgotten. But no matter what, spend your time with those you love and respect.

Happy Thanksgiving from HMG Creative. We are thankful for you!
